PC Based Industrial automation / Home appliance control

PC Based Industrial automation  /  Home  appliance control
OBJECTIVE:
The aim of the project is to control the electrical appliance through PC using embedded system technology.
The move from electromechanical to digital control in home appliances was first accomplished with off- the-shelf electronic devices - the systems architecture being built around an MCU, and with combination of PC and MCU, discrete transistors and high-voltage triacs. This mini revolution in home appliances is motivated in part by the growing need to reduce energy, as well as to promote ease-of-use. This has changed the face of power controls.
The home apparatus are motor, refrigerator, TV, fans and A/C. These all appliance are controlled through PC. In the project has two communication one is communication between PC and controller and communication between controller and appliance.
In the transmitter circuit (PC) already defined control data’s were loaded in the controller. When we need to control a device we should enter the device number in computer. The number is transferred from pc to controller, the controller read the data. Then the controller generates the control signal based upon the received signal and gives it to the driver unit to control the device.
This project is implemented using PC with RS232 cable, micro-controller, and Driver unit.
