TRANSMISSION LINE MULTIPLE FAULTS DETECTION AND INDICATION TO ELECTRICITY BOARD

Abstract:

The Embedded Technology is now in its prime and the wealth of knowledge available is mind-blowing. Embedded technology plays a major role in integrating the various functions associated with it. This needs to tie up the various sources of the Department in a closed loop system. This proposal greatly reduces the manpower, saves time and operates efficiently without human interference. This project puts forth the first step in achieving the desired target. With the advent in technology, the existing systems are developed to have in built intelligence. 

TRANSMISSION LINE MULTIPLE FAULTS DETECTION AND INDICATION TO ELECTRICITY BOARD” deals with the problem of detecting the fault in the transmission lines and the automatic intimation to Electricity Board (EB). This project consists of Power supply, Microcontroller, RF Transmitter, RF Receiver, sensors, buzzers & LCD displays.
By the usage of the transformer the 1-phase, 230v AC supply source is stepped-up which is fed to the Transmission line. In this transmission line feeding any number of loads, if a fault occurs, say, an Open-circuit fault at any point in between the transmission line and the load, an indication is provided to the microcontroller. When the voltage through the line falls below a programmed voltage, an immediate indication is provided by the microcontroller through the RF transmitter. The RF-signal is transmitted to RF-receiver which is located in the EB control centre. Soon after the RF-receiver receives the signal, this signal is fed to the microcontroller at the EB section. After the detection of the fault signal by the microcontroller an immediate indication by the sensors and buzzers is provided.

    Factories, mass transit systems, streetlights, businesses and homes all need the electricity to be at a different voltage depending on how the electricity is used, so electrical transmission lines are helpfull.
