Objective:
            The objective of this project is to monitor the human body temperature.
Scope:
            This project is very much useful intensive care unit in hospital to monitor the critical patient body temperature.

Methodology:

Bio Medical Instrumentation is a field where the technology has gone into a lot of advancements and sophistication. After the introduction of computers the medical instrumentation is improved further in all aspects. Bio Medical Instrumentation can be classified into two Major types: clinical and research. Clinical instrumentation is basically devoted to the diagnosis, care and treatment of patients. Our project entitled microcontroller based patient monitoring system comes under clinical instrumentation.
Body temperature measurement, is one of the area of Bio-Medical Instrumentation that is becoming increasingly familiar to the general public. Here electronic equipment provides a continuous watch over the vital characteristics and parameters of the critically ill patients. In the coronary and other intensive care units in hospitals, thousands of lives have been saved in recent years because of the careful and accurate monitoring approved by this equipment.
Our project is a versatile integrated hardware tool for the methodological monitoring of body temperature of patients. Here we have focused in monitoring and alarming of the abnormal condition of human body temperature.
The Sensor we prefer to use for the temperature measurement is thermister. It has negative temperature co-efficient. That is when the temperature increases automatically the resistance will decrease. It has a lot of advantages over the conventional instruments used for measurement. Our project aimed to give more accurate measurements rather than the conventional type. Moreover the output of our project will be the electrical output; hence, our project will be more efficient and cost effective.
Our project microcontroller based patient monitoring is a hardware tool for monitoring the physiological parameters of critically ill patients. Essentially the patients are monitored because they have unbalance in body systems. By continual monitoring, the patient problems can be detected as they occur and remedies taken before these problems get out of hand.  The voltage signal from the amplifier section, that is after sensor and amplifier are fed to the external card where they are amplified into 0-5V range and feeds it to the microcontroller through ADC. The ADC in the microcontroller Board converts analog input signal into digital data and feeds it into the microcontroller. The software is written in Embedded ‘C’ language to display the appropriate signals. If the temperature limit exceeds a particular limit, that is when it exceeds the normal level, we would like indicate it through alarm.
