Ultrasonic Radar for Highways

Ultrasonic Radar for Highways

Description:

In this project the speed of the vehicle is calculated by using speed sensor and the distance between the opposite object and the vehicle can be measured by Ultrasonic sensor. Automatic brake system will apply depends on the speed and distance.

Methodology:
This project is designed by following blocks,
Ø  Microcontroller.
Ø  Ultrasonic sensor.
Ø  Speed sensor.
Ø  LCD display.
Ø  Alarm.
Ø  Relay.

Here IR sensor is used as a speed sensor. The wheel has a IR sensor fixed in it and speed can be detected through that sensor by every rotation of the wheel, IR sensor will send a low pulse to the controller for every rotation. Then the controller will calculate the speed depends on the pulse per second.  And we have Ultrasonic sensor for measure the distance between the opposite object and vehicle. It is also send a high low pulse to the controller. The pulse time will vary depends on the object’s distance in opposite side. Using this pulse timing the controller is calculating the distance. When the distance is less than one meter and the speed is 10 to 30 km means the controller will ON Alarm for indication. If the speed is greater than 30km and less than 70km means the controller ON the relay for small delay (relay is for trigger the braking system), and then OFF the relay. If the speed crosses 70 km then the controller apply the full brake, which means the relay is in ON stage, until the speed decreases from 70 km.

Application:
Ø  It can be implemented in all types of vehicles.

Advantages:
Ø  Easy to implement in vehicles.
Ø  Low power consumption.
Ø  Avoid the accident.
